At long last I've pretty much finished my new gun cart that is based on a 4-wheel garden wagon. You can see a series of pictures at:

Not satisfied with the stars in the circular ends of the rifle rack part.
Other tidbits:
the rifle rack screws to the base and the base bolts to the wagon's metal mesh floor.
And the big box as well as the upper ammo box fit both this cart and the first one (two wheeled-type.) Figure this way I can't bring the wrong box with the right cart.
Cut-outs for barrels and lower portions are cork-lined. Thought about leather but all I could find was cork.
