Just picked up a 45 huntsman at a gun show for 75.00 that had a stuck firing pin and a very dirty barrel. After much reading on this sight I managed to take the action completely apart and free up the firing pin and get all the rust and crud out of the action. I also got the press fit breech plug out after going thru a shotgun rod three wooden dowels and finally a steel rod. Little side note, if you purchase a used muzzleloader check it with a bullet puller first. When I got the breech plug out a ball and powder charge came out with it, luckily I had soaked it in oil for a couple of days. Now that I can see down the barrell I realize how bad it is, I have run a ton of patches thru it along with running a brass brush in between. I can see I'm going to have some pitting but there is also quite a bit of crud left. I was wondering if anybody had any good techniques for getting this stuff out other than days of scrubbing.
