ANy 10 gauge shooters here
« on: December 27, 2010, 11:25:58 PM »
Any one here hunt turkey with a 10 Ga?  I know there only slight gain over a 12 Ga 3.5 .and I use to own one but I traded for my h&r 10 Ga.  I like it more than my 12 Ga guns. I know alot of people don't like the recoil but he'll I done let at least 7 different people shoot 2 1/4 oz turkey loads half of them 13 yo.  I have to keep my drylocs from my lil brother. And I some people don't like not being able to buy ammo at the store but I order all my shells off line even for my 44. And though it only matters to me but I am going to buy some 0000b loads next year and 12 of them stack on top of each of evenly in a 12 it randomly stacked. Also I realized the 14,500 psi of the 12 Ga has 0 advantage.  Because the have the same amount of powder so basically when you have a explosion in a larger room you get less psi out the same blast in a smaller room you her more psi (12ga).            Also I wanted to ask if any one here has a bps 10 . I would get one but I like a detached grip like benelli steady grip and bps don't have one.  So far since august I've done put about 50 turkey loads through it and 20 duck loads
In theory its sound ",but in practice its flawed

17, My 10 is a BPS...I really like the ga. and the shotgun is fine, I would prefer  a side ejection like the 870, but can live with bottom ejection..as for the the 10 I hand load some for it, plus bought a bunch of ammo for it just after I purchased it..got a couple really good buys on ammo from folks who sold their 10's for one reason or another..I prefer it by far to a 3 1/2 in 12, but the BPS is a heavier gun than my  3 1/2 so recoil is much less..hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine...

I've got the BPS 10.  Best gun for hardcore goose hunters currently made.  I've killed a few turkeys with it but it really isn't a turkey gun.  It's too heavy to carry and hard to balance on your knees for long periods of time.  Sadly, Browning doesn't make a lightweight 3 1/2" 12 so I had to buy and 870.

I don't know all your talk about reloading.  I see an advantage in wingshooting with the 10 because of better balance and recoil management and a disadvantage in stationary shooting because of the increased weight.
