Anyone remember Tim James. gubernatorial candidate from Alabama
« on: September 20, 2010, 03:57:00 PM »
Matt posted a video of one of his commercials. The one where he says if he is elected governor of Alabama the drivers test will be given in English only.

Seems some Gay guy on comedy central thinks that makes him a racist. So its racist to ask people in this country to learn English?

Tim would have made Alabama a fine governor, but the Alabama Education Association (Alabama's version of the Mafia) did him in.

Tim is the son of former governor Fob James who was not noted for his honestly and wasn't a very well likely governor. That was one strike against him to begin with.

Then it was disclosed he made much of his fortune on an uneeded bridge that went to nowhere until his dad Fob had the state pay to build a road to his son's bridge. At least that's the story that was making the rounds.

He never made it past the primary. If it is even remotely like his dad he would NOT have been good for the state. We seem to have a way to pick real losers for governors in Bama kinda like B'ham has for picking mayors. We've had a few tossed in jail and at least one maybe two former governors are in prison here now as are former mayors of B'ham.

They just can't avoid greed and corruption. I suspect that if a proper federal probe is done on our current--soon to be former--governor he too will wind up in prison. It seems pretty clear that he is taking pay from the Indian casinos in MS to prevent legal gambling in Bama. No I can't prove it.

The AEA and Paul Hubert had the democrats cross over and vote in the republican primary to beat James. I had no problem with his dad and I don't have a problem with Governor Riley.
I am glad he enforced the law and closed down the illegal casinos. They were lined up for several miles on the 78 Highway on the way to my place. It was dangerous to get on the highway with that bunch from Birmingham.

Didn't know anything about the guy 'cept what I saw on the Video that Matt had posted once upon a time. But that video was a good un and I would have supported him if I could,  based on his previous performance of course!  ;)

In my view, Tim James' one trick was to appeal to the common fears of people who like to consider themselves conservative.

I don't usually vote against people, but in the primary, it was more important to me to vote against Tim James, than to vote for the guy I liked.  In the fall, I usually vote for some from each side, but I am going to have to pull the big red lever to protest Joe Reed's decision to replace someone who actually qualified and campaigned with a "sister".

I liked Fob. I have used my "Fob James -Governor, Great Seal of Alabama" keychain for 30 years.
Did you know Fob and Vince Dooley were roommates at Auburn, and he invented those plastic dumbells with concrete in them?

Well I dunno you from adam POw Pow, but asking folk who want to become citizens in this country to learn the english language doesn't seem to me to be a trick! And if its wrong to consider yourself conservative, then you might be a liberal, ya think?
