LC Smith double - what guage?
« on: February 26, 2011, 03:49:54 AM »
I have an old LC Smith double barrel shotgun. I looked up  its serial number on the LC Smith collector's association website and it was built in 1921. I can't find any markings on the barrels that tell me what the chokes are. How can I determine this? I have a dial caliper that I can measure the ends of the barrels with.

Did you break down the gun & look under the breach end of the barrels?  :o  If nothing there, usually 28" barrels are M&F. 30" F&F. The only way to be certain is to mesure the chokes though. You can't know if someone had them opened up along the way.

Should be on the barrel flats and easy to see with barrel removed.
