Sig 220 mags???

I am looking at a Sig 220 that has made in W germany samped on the side.  I notice that it comes with 7rnd magazines.  All of the new ones come with 8rnd magazines.  Will the new 8rnd mags work in the older guns???

my sig p 220 was also made in germany i have 8 round mags i bought from midwayusa and 10 round mags for it.

My old west German p220 has two factory 8 rounders, work great. also have a pro mag that remarkably works fine!

I also have a West German P220 .45 ACP with the American style mag release. It came with a 7 round mag that I had to pull out of the gun each time. I just got my brand new factory SS 8 round mag that MidwayUSA had on sale last month and it functions flawlessly. It drops easily and has a bump pad on the bottom. I wish I had bought 2 of them.

My  State LE agency carried Sig P220s for 7 yrs. At one point there was a major issue with Sig  blued mags, cracking at the back feed lips.  They were all replaced by Sig with SS 7rd mags.  The State Trooper SWAT team at one time carried Sig P220s w/ 8rd mags and they had lots of problems. Now have Glocks, sorry to say. We had very good agt qualify rates, very few  gun-related issues until all of a sudden we got a new Administrator, a Cop Groupy!, who decided we didn't had enough bullets, because his former groupy clan mimiced the local militray w/ 9mm & 15rds. (Never mind that his old PD, he was the MAyor) had multiple multi-round fail to stops with the Beratta 92F! WEwent to Glock 40 M22s and God Bless America, due the politically degenerative leadership in my old agency, no one has been placed in harms way during the kissass mentality they now have.

My old 220 came with 7-rd mags.  Works fine with new SS 8-rd mags.

They were issued in my agency years ago. Never had a problem with mags...
