extractor question

i have the H&R Ultra Varmint in .223 with the factory extractor in place.

i just finished reading the "simple extractor improvement" in FAQ.

i am able to do the shim attachment with no problems or question... but... is there a spring to make it a little stronger/weaker when being forced out?

the one in my rifle seems a bit "sluggish"...

There is SO MUCH  info in the FAQ's it really takes alot of reading and searching,,but just about Everything  about Handi's is in there,, :D :D
