Lace Burl Maple G2(pics)

I made this set from Lace Burl Maple with a hand rubbed satin Tung Oil finish. Baron grip mated with a trigger guard hugger Schnabel forearm mounted with a H-Bar. G2 frame with a 13" MGM 30-30IMP. barrel topped with a Burris 3X12 scope.









It even has a built in hanger for stand hunting!

Absolutely gorgeous.  I plan to try to make a set this winter in the shop out of some nicely figured walnut that I have,,,I just hope it comes out half that good.  I want to know, how do you get your burlwood to stabilize?  I've got a large cherry burl that I've had for close to 10 years, and everytime I trim it back to square, it just warps and deforms again.

Stabilize is a process you use to harden spalted wood(meaning the wood is decayed, rotten) making it useful. The burl I work with is sound and dry, not spalted. As with any wood it needs to be sealed after working to prevent adsorbing moister to prevent warping. Any wood not properly prepared is going to absorb moister and warp in most areas.

That is some kinda PURDY ,  Very Beautyfull , Thanks for posting the pictures , those must be them soft artfical rocks .cause a saine man would never put a shooter like that on ROCKS !!!!!!
