Brownell's or Midway (Can't rememebr which one) is selling E.R. Shaw .243 varmint contour barrels with barrel nut wrench and and go-no go gauges for $ 200.

Sounds like a great start to me!!! :o

I've put a Shaw 22" fluted mag taper barrel in 243 on a ruger MKII.  Shoots nice and tight.  Cost with flutes, celux blue, etc...$560-ish and 26 weeks wait time.

$200ish I can live with, for $560ish and 26 weeks I'll buy another gun, it's not that important to me, just thought it woud be nice to modify it (the gun) into a better predator gun, I'm lookin into some web sites this weekend to gather some thought.

What are you shooting on it now?  Larry
A gun is just like a parachute, if you ever really need one, nothing else will do.

Whats on it now is the factory barrel, its a marlin xs70, the barrel and lock nut are the same as a savage.

Thers nothing wrong with it but I would like something a little shorter, I have had a thought of cuttin mine down and recrowning, but the fluting is just a want and not a necesity, but aint it all.

The fluting is where the cost is going to go up in a hurry. Northlander's on the Savageshooters site has a lot of in stock barrels by McGowen or Shilen, both are high quality.
