S & W scope ?
« on: October 14, 2010, 03:54:57 PM »
I recently aquired a  S & W eer scope , its a variable , 1 1/2 to 6 1/2 I believe.   I plan on putting it on a Ruger SRH in 454.  My question is , actually quite obvious........who makes it and will it stand up to heavy 454 loads.  I did Google it , got a little info.   If I remember right , it stated that they (there are several different models , both for rifle and EER for handguns) distributed by Smith and Wesson Optics........distributed....not made by.  It appears to be a good scope. Kinda resembles a Burris.   I would imagine it was made for the Hunter package that Smith offered a few years ago ?  If thats the case, it would've been on a 44. The 454 is a little stiffer than most 44s, that being the case, what do ya think ?

I've had several S&W Performance Optics scopes including a pistol scope, they were made by Hakko of Japan around 2003-2004, were on close out near the end of 2004. I had a warranty issue with one about 3yrs ago, S&W stood behind the warranty and refunded my money after I provided the original receipt.

Hakko used to be one of the two big Japanese optics makers, the other being Light Optical Works who used to make Bushnell Elites, dunno if they still do, but Hakko went into bankruptcy and were bought by a Chinese company a few years ago. I never used the S&W pistol scope, had it on a 15" 7mm-08 TC Prohunter barrel, but sold it before I ever shot it. I had several rifle scopes that worked great, they were kinda heavy, but good glass.

Thanks,  this one does't seem to have the eye relief of a Leo.  We'll see how it holds up.
