Remember when...
« on: September 29, 2010, 06:00:48 AM »
I was loading a batch of .223's yesterday evening, using up the last of my 'old stock' primers.  I just bought several thousand a couple of weeks ago at the local gunshow, $34 for small, $36 for large.  I noticed the price on the pack as I used the last of em, and thought I'd share it with you guys...Just to remind you of the good 'ole days.

Yep...sad!  A bygone era.

Price "corrected" quickly to supply and demand, settled into a new "Norm" and will never recover "The Good Old Days".

I have some Unique $9 a pound powder and two 8 pound jugs of Surplus IMR 4895 I got for $48.00 each. I have lots of around $9 a 100 box bullets. I sure am glad that I bought up all this stuff a number of years ago. I tend to find something that works great and get a lifetime supply.  ;D

Actually that price wasn't so very long ago just before obama put the fear in folks and the shortages that resulted. I remember when they were half that price.

Odd thing is that I don't EVER remember hearing about anything blowing up or catching on fire on the shelf or while being shipped!!

I remember riding bicycles without helments too.  Most of us skint our butts a time or two, but people these days seem to get maimed and dismembered without their helments, etc. etc. etc............blah, blah.  If you broke your tail from jumping a bike 25 feet through the air, folks would laugh, point their fingers and say "you dumba$$, don't do that again!"  The "legal system" is really driving a lot of prices these days!

It really sucks! Sorry to rant.

One of the saddest sights I have ever seen is a 10 year old boy riding his bicycle round and round a cul-de-sac in an upper class neighborhood, wearing a helmet, knee pads, elbow pads, and safety glasses.  I sat there a few minutes watching, and thought, what a shame that kid can't go out somewhere and be a boy.
