Where is RWS made?

RWS-I thought they were german or something, but at the last gun show I saw one that said china.  Was it a fake? I've heard very little good about chinese airguns, but I thought RWS was quality???

long colt lawrence,

Was that air rifle a side cocker?  If it was maybe it was a Chinese Model B21 which is a copy of the RWS 48.  The main difference between them is the B21 has a longer barrel.  You would be surprised at the good reviews these Chinese air rifles are getting now.  Some of them are not worth the money and some are very good.  All depends on where they are made in China.  Oh, by the way, RWS are made by a couple of different manufactures.  Lawdog

RWS doesn't make guns. The name Rheinisch Westaflische Spreggstoff Fabriken (RWS) has been a trademark of the German firm Dynamit Noble since 1931. It is the exclusive US importer of Dianawerk airguns, and also sells guns and  shooting accessories by many other makers, including Baikal, Mannlicher, Cometa and others. The 320 is the same as the Chinese Xisico (Xifeng) B-20, very similiar to the Beeman R-9. Lots of QC problems reported with this one.

After I got home from work I looked up what I could find about RWS/Diana air rifles.

The following models are made in China;

312, 320, 320M

These models are made at Cometa Mfg., Spain;

92, 93, 94

These models are made at Diana Mfg., Germany;

24, 34, 36, 40, 46, 46 Stutzen, 48, 52, 54, and the 350M

Hope this helps.  Lawdog

Thanks for the info Lawdog and Dave, that does clear things up a bit. Looking at the "airgunexpress sight" where I was thinking of buying a remanufactured gun, the one at the show appeared to be a model 92 for a "show special" of 120.00 (no bargain there). I haven't heard anything bad about RWS but I don't think I want chinese. hmmmm, not sure where to go from here for a good 150.00 gun.

Ok, so mabye it was a 312 (which I couldn't find a pic of) since you said the 92 was spanish. But it didn't have the front sight shroud or that trade mark chinese rear sight which looks like the same one as my 20.00 special.

thanks again

long colt lawrence,

Airgun Express has a RWS demo on sale right now for $140.00.  December sale only.  Go to http://www.airgunexpress.com/rwsdemosrifles.htm and see for yourself.  There is nothing wrong with a demo or a blemished rifle.  Save you a bundle that way.  Lawdog
