Seasons over time to rant
« on: October 01, 2010, 02:18:13 PM »
Bow seasons over here  :'( so time to catch up on the internet.
I know everyone loses an animal at sometime, but I talked to a bunch of people this year and a couple of them admitted to
"sticking a few" but had nothing to show for it. This really pisses me off!  There is something awesome about bowhunting, and
obviously some people don't get it. Most outfitters, or pay type hunts tell you if you draw blood your done. I guess some people
need this supervision, one guy said he'd hit 2 elk but no luck! We talked about his setup and equipment, he was using (won't say
what brand) broadheads that were so dull I couldn't cut myself with them, and I tried! Way over $1000 dollars in equipment couldn't
or wouldn't spend 10 minutes making sure the most important thing was right. I guess all those people who shot tree branches with
sharp rocks on the end just must have been REAL lucky, or maybe they cared more.
Enough ranting. Good hunting!

I call those people wanna be hunters and its obvious they have never had someone depend on them or have a job where paying attention to detail was critical to the job getting done and done right. That's the same people that borrow your stuff and return it in worse shape than when they borrowed it. I would not be able to sleep for a week if I lost a deer due to my goof up.

I have forgotten deer that I've taken but have never forgotten the couple that I lost. In my opinion there are alot of people out there that have zero % respect for the game they are hunting and zero respect for the sport.

I've had one deer that I could not recover, and that was several years ago.  I arrowed her, and she took off and headed right down to where she knew the fence line was.  Good blood trail, but the property owner refused permission to recover the deer.  Even with our FWP wardens insisting that it was only ethical to let me recover the deer, they still refused access to recover.

But the one thing, I always make sure of is the sharpness of my broadheads as I want them scary sharp.

Wow so soon? Down here it doesn't even start for twelve more days and then won't end until January 31 next year.

Yep our bow season is Sept 1-30th. Its ok if you like hunting in shortsleeves doesn't do much
for all those cool deer hunting gadgets. No where near the rut, pretty much set up on the food
see what shows up.
