Vermont moose
« on: November 18, 2010, 08:42:29 AM »
This is the moose a hunting friend's son got this fall in northeast vermont.  This is his email to me.  We hunt together every fall.

Attached pix are of my son and the big bull he took in Norton, Vermont on
Tuesday, 19 October, 6:55 AM as a sub-permitee on my permit. Dry, dressed
weight was 782 lbs. He got robbed a bit on inside spread due to broken left
paddle (obviously battle damage). Depending on how you measure it the
remaining inside spread is either 49" or 52" - even the biologists were
arguing back and forth between 49" and 52" at the Island Pond check
station..... eventually settling on 49". Their comments were that before
the battle damage  and loss of ~15" of the left paddle he was in the "high
50's - low 60's" range.  He couldn't believe that he had to come from Northern Maine
(Winterville) to the NE Kingdom of Vermont to finally get a chance to
harvest a "Maine scale" trophy.
