New Rifle
« on: September 29, 2010, 05:14:45 PM »
Just picked up a Ruger 77 hawkeye in 270 Winchester. Got it out the door for $730. Beautiful wood grain and the trigger breaks like a glass rod at about 3 pounds. Think I'll be putting a 2-7 Redfield on it.  This is my first centerfire Ruger but hopefully it wont be the last.

Ill give you my opinion on the new redfield scopes. Ive got a 2x7 and a 4x12 both are great opticaly for the price but both suffer from crappy turent ajustments. there click ajustments but stiff and mushy. one click may give you a 1/4 inch one time and 2 inches the next and ive even had windage wander when ajusting elevation and the same the other way. there ok on a gun that is going to be used with one load and once sighted in left alone but they are very frustrating to zero when changing loads.

Well the good thing about the Redfield scopes is they have the same lifetime warranty as the Leupolds. I'll definately keep an eye on mine for any problems.

     Thanks,

I have loaded for and shot four Hawkeyes so far. All have been Sub MOA so far. I don't like the matte blue but rest of the Hawkeye is a home run. I hope yours shoots as well as mine.
