Christmas Hog Hunting in South Carolina
« on: November 17, 2003, 01:48:50 PM »
:?

I am heading to Hilton Head, South Carolina for Christmas and will be spending a week.  I've had 25 years of deer hunting experience but being from Michigan, have never had a chance at a hog.  It sounds like something fun, and challenging.  Not to mention the pork! MMMMMMMM!

Do South Carolina land owners have a lot of problems with hogs?  I'd rather not have to pay a guide or lodge to hunt if I can help it.  I'd love to find a land owner or other friendly hunter that has access to land to show me the ropes.

Any ideas?

If you can't stay in Michigan for the late deer season then what better than to hunt pigs down there.  Hope you get plenty of responses.

Late Deer Season

Unfortunately Michigan has eliminated the late season hunt in my area.  We still can hunt with bow, but I really loved sitting in the snow during Christmas!

Thanks for the well wishes!

Don't know much about South Carolina hog hunting but at Hilton Head you won't be that far from GA.  Fort Stewart is right outside Savannah and has public hunting if there are not too many field training exercises going on.  Shouldn't be much training over the Christmas Holidays.  There is a web-site you can find by putting "Fort Stewart hunting" into your favorite search engine.  Hope this helps and good luck...

Used to live on HHI----good hogs along the Savannah River on both sides--I hunted up near Estill. Go to Low Country Outfitters at the Moss Creek shopping area( on your left just before the bridge going onto the island) and ask there. Get you a good steak at Dosodo's while you are at it. pg
