Almost State Record Killed

There was a large deer killed recently, that is not the state record, but not too far from it. The sad thing is it was not taken by legal means. I was told there were pics of it online, but have not seen them myself. The deer had 33 points, and was 204 points, plus or minus. Sure a shame it had to be taken like this. Guess TWRA will sure have a nice one to show off. This just goes to prove doing things the wrong way, is just not worth it, and that officers are out working.

This just proves, contrary to what TWRA says, that TN can produce big deer. We have been trying for years to get TWRA to put antler restrictions on bucks killed in TN. They tell us that TN is not capable of producing big deer so antler restrictions will do no good. Maybe this will wake them up.

if Tn  was capable of growing deer like that on a regular bases we would hear more about poaching of big deer.it might let a few more grow to a older age class but very few would ever make a record book.Trophy hunters want a 1 buck limit also,im a deer hunter & would love to kill a monster,it may happen someday but pt restrictions would leave more dead deer in the woods than would ever turn into monsters.when CWD reaches Tn my deer hunting will be over.i wont subject my family to that risk & wont kill them & not eat them.reckon i wont be the only 1

even antler restrictions want help the deer make it to the record books in tn it would result in bigger deer being killed but it wouldnt increase in the number of trophy bucks and i do not want restrictions it makes it ruffer for the deer during the rut less small ones killed means more competition for the ones that need to be doing the breeding honestly more bucks need to be taken here in tn to drop the buck 2 doe ratio down so the big one can bread since tn dropped the bag limit several years ago you dont see better deer around here like they said you see more basket racks that people pass on and kill the ones needing to breed to get to the record books

Take advantage of the 3 does a day limit in unit L . This leaves a lot more food for mr big buck. Hunted my lease in Fentress county twice in the last week. There are far fewer deer on the plateau, but they are twice the size of Rutherford county deer. Food is more plentiful up there and there is less competition for them.

wish i could kill more doe i am unable to bow hunt and since they stopped the second muzzleloader segment alot of people are not able to hunt the whole muzzleloader season where i and lots of people used to be able to take a week vacation in november then a week in december to take advantage of the either sex muzzleloader hunts now were stuck with killing whatever moves for meat and that means taking more bucks that have decent racks and not waiting on a basket rack or a doe
