Found a friend that will make me bullets from ww . He will make them for me if I send him the ww's. How many lbs. of wheel weights will it take to make 500 of a say 285 gr. 45 lc bullets? I think he is casting 270 gr. .454 dia. HP bullets.

Zach,
Seeing as there are 7000 grains in a pound, then 500 x 285/7000 = 20.36 pounds.

Actually you will need 20.36 pounds of clean melt, I'd say it would take at least 10% more to account for clips, and a fair amount of dross, as the WW are generally pretty dirty.
