putting a sling on a tender

I'm newer to shooting contenders and wanting to add a sling to mine but don't like the looks of the barrel band. Is there any other way to attatch a sling? Any pics ? also what king of sling do you use?

I don't personally have any advice for you, since I don't have a sling...But there's some good info on this thread from earlier this year.

T/C makes a sling forend screw that has a hole for the sling mount and I believe Midway had a grip screw that had a similiar set-up.  I just use a large bandana holster for mine.  The forend screw was supposed to be for the rifle forend, but I have one on my pistol, because I can remove it with a nail in the field, if I want to change barrels.

You didn't say if you have a G2 or G1 contender.

I have slings on both of my encore frames and my G2 frame. the way i attached the stud to the Encores is I bought the T/C sling kit, for the forend I drilled between the two screw holes and used a machine sling stud and nut with a washer to keep pulling trough.

For my G2 I bought a pachmayer grip set with them installed.  I do have on the a 14" forend that use a machine screw sling stud that I use in place of the front forend screw.


Uncle mikes use to make a sling kit for the G1 contender and it works great.

If you have a grip plate you can drill a hole in it and use a machine sling stud and nut with a large washer to keep  from pulling trough and then use a wood screw sling stud in the forend and glue it in place

I've got a G2 and made(came up with) my own swivel concoction.... used the Pachy front grip,drilled(opened) the front hole-used a machine screw front swivel stud-no prob, as for the swivel stud off a wood screw stud and brazed it to a couple 1/4-20 nuts(for lengthening),then brazed this to the stock handgrip attaching bolt, located the proper spot on the bottom grip cap and drilled a hole large enough for the stud to stick thru/small enough that no crap gets in,reinstalled the grip bolt/tightened ,reinstalled the bottom cap and voila------sling attachments as needed. Here's mine.  It's a saddle ring sling hooked to a keychain ring through an Uncle Mike's machine screw swivel stud on the Contender butt plate.  This isn't for hiking but is great for stalking, leaning against trees, etc.  In cold weather I can keep my hand in my pocket, and when I pull it out the pistol butt is right there.

       I'm not sure where one can find the Uncle Mike's Contender swivel kit now that Fox Ridge is no more .  I have used and highly reccomend the JSI handgun sling available at www.eabco.com.  It is a quick adjust sling that is quickly and quietly adjusted from carry length to shooting length in about two seconds.  I think someone said not long ago that Brownell's had Uncle Mike's kit.  I'd check there anyway.

      There you go.........glad to see the kit is still available somewhere. ...and Midsouth is as good as it gets.  I'm not sure, but I don't think the kit works for G-2.

Here's a look at my T-C butt and the Uncle Mike's 1/4" Machine Screw Swivel Stud. A plain ol' 10-32 nut and lock washer hold it on the butt plate.  Yes, I know I drilled the hole off center.
