Hey Tom I opened my big mouth......
« on: October 23, 2010, 09:21:35 AM »
I was driving around a big cattail lined lake by the house my looking for access to trap muskrats.I stopped at a house/hunting lodge to ask about how duck hunting was, guys were standing outside.Lousy, they said the ducks aren't down yet.I told them I was looking for access to the lake to trap muskrats. They asked me if I could catch beaver.I said yes if I had to.They walked me down to the bank by their dock. There was a huge beaver cache. The owner wants the beaver gone, gone, gone!!.They are knocking his trees down big time.I offered to remove them come November 6th,season opens then. They offered to pay me to do it.I declined the offer of money. The bank is lined with rocks from the field to cut down erosion.Hopefully these are the last beaver within the county ::).I did get permission to use their land to access the lake for muskrat trapping. There are muskrat houses out there just slightly smaller than the Mall of America.I came home for lunch and dug out me 330's.I did locate 5 great canine locations and some big den trees for coon while driving around the lake.Went pheasant hunting last night while scouting. The score ended up Tuffy, the English Cocker 3,Pheasants 0.We hit a plum patch looking for coon trails and it was loaded with pheasants(and coon sign).
I love the smell of coyote gland lure early in the morning. It smells like victory!!
