Question about an H&R 22. Young America revolver I got.
« on: November 19, 2010, 09:10:46 AM »
I bought an H&R Young America 22. revolver at an antque show for 85$.  I was hoping that I could find out what year mine was made was made from the serial number alone.  The reason being that I wonder if it's classified as an antique.  If it it made before 1916 it is.  It's serial number is 161358.  If you need more information the left side of the barrel has the words "22 RIM FIRE" and the top of the gun says "YOUNG AMERICA DOUBLE ACTION".

There's more information about it here:

Thanks.

The cartridge stamping on the left side of the barrel indicates that it is smokeless/Nitro powder capable and made after 1904, a 2nd Model.  The serial number "suggests" that it was made circa 1908-12.  Currently there are no public serial number lists.
In what country are you located?  In the US, an antique firearm is any piece made on or before Dec. 31st 1898.
