What a load of crap! Of course he wore the hat and cap intentionally. Anyone stupid enough to believe his BS, is indeed an idiot. It would be like Crazy Horse showing up at his hearing for the massacre, riding Custer's horse, saying he was riding it in honor of his Medicine Man "Sitting Bull", and his CO CHIEF, "Gall". ::)
Yes, we have freedom of speech, but if you come dressed for a reaction at a political rally, you most likely will get one. He was hired to do a job, not to cause a disturbance or reaction. All the man's taste is in his mouth, and his brain is rather weak to come up with such a lame excuse.  ::)

Yes, he should have been fired.

I caught the story on the radio and the fellow didn't say he was fired; he was just sent home because he wouldn't turn his shirt inside out and lose the hat.  He wasn't at a political rally; he was a stage hand who was setting up for the rally.  That said, if he were not violating some kind of dress code that was part of his work requirement, he should have been left alone.  He seemed to think that the problem was with his union and had nothing to do with who was going to appear at the rally.  I'm betting that if he had been wearing a "Yes We Can" tee shirt, no one would have said a word.

You don't go to work batting for the other team...STUPID.

If this guy worked for Ford and was standing on the line building Fords and wearing a Chevy hat and shirt he might get some comments for it from the Ford people.  This guy wanted attention and he got.  We might agree his view but it was still a stupid stunt!

Standard criminal union tactics. The unions need to be investigated under the RICO act and these organised criminals sent to federal prison.
99% of all Lawyers give the other 1% a bad name. What I find hilarious about this is they are such an arrogant bunch, that they all think they are in the 1%.

I'm sure he wore it for effect, but that is not an offense worthy of firing him.
Just because you have to belong to a union so that you can work does not mean they own you.
But then again unions are purely organized crime run by communist .

Don't the auto unions force you to use a worse parking lot if you are driving an American car made in Canada vs a Japanese car made in the US? They are kinda stupid.

I see some humor in that.

Unions better be bending over backwards for this one. Weather you like it or not, he has a right to wear it. 'Course it doesn't suprise me, considering the intelligence of some of the union people.  ;D gypsyman

I'm in total agreement that he has the RIGHT to wear it, but given the environment, was it RIGHT to wear it? Apparently not. You have the RIGHT to wear a KKK t-shirt and cap, in New Orleans, or a Black Panther t-shirt and cap to a Klan rally, but would it be the RIGHT decision to wear it there?
He wanted a reaction and he got one. If you know you aren't welcome there, why go?
