It been a cold windy week here(15-30 degrees - 15-20mph wind) here in Jersey and the deer haven't been
moving much about as much as this old boy who does'nt like cold anymore(diabetic). But this morning was
about 15 again but no wind decided to hunt an old orchard at at a farmer friends. About 7:30 sitting in a
ladder stand nestled in a old apple tree I saw movement coming towards me. It was a buck with 3 does
working my way, they came through the brush and stopped about 40 yd away and looked right at me. By that
time I had the scope on the bucks shoulder and hit the switch. Heard a blat and he went down in a heap. Found
out later it took out both lungs. Love those Hornady SST's. Called Harry and he came and picked us up with the
old farm truck aand back for coffee by 9:00. Checked in at 2.5yr and 118lbs, backstrap tonight! Great day. Doe
season starts next week.
