Its kinda hard to give you specific information on what the bucks will be up to during your visit.
The experience I have is that for the past 31 years without fail I have gone for a week bowhunting with a group of friends allways the week ending the Sunday before Thanksgiving.  Since they started the youth season in Ohio it comes in on Saturday, the last full day of our hunting trip.   By that point in the deer rut I beleive most of the breeding has taken place but we still see the larger bucks by themselfs out cruising for does, many times at mid day.  Dont just hunt the mornings and late afternoons, alot of the best action seems to happen in the 11 AM to 2 PM period.
I myself am a meat hunter, and dont just target the bucks like I once did,  But where you find one the other is usually close also,  All the kids that I have seen and talked to in the youth season really seem to like it and it gives them a better shot at getting a deer than during the regular deer gun season.
Good Luck,  Be Safe,  and have a great hunt !!    :D   Jedman

if your buying a license for ohio the 2010-2011 ODNR hunting book has the # of kills for each county and the # of record bucks taken too.  This should help you pick out a location for your hunting.  Central ohio and eastern ohio are typically the best for deer.

Hi,

If you are hunting near the Ohio River and near the center of the state then you are very close to the Shawnee State Forest.  This is the largest state forest in Ohio, I believe it is around 75,000 acres.  I have never hunted this are, but only because the Zaleski State Forest is an hour closer to my house.  Do a search on goggle or yahoo for "Ohio Division of Wildlife Maps" and you should be able to get a decent topo of the area.  It has been fairly warm lately so you may still have some delayed buck activity.  In the last 10 years I have seen bucks in SE Ohio after the does as late as the first of December. I think the increase in average temperatures is the reason.  Good luck hunting with the boys.

Must have Daja Vue. I thought I had already posted this info somewhere else, but can't find it. Deer 24/7, on your 'puter, look up Ohio Power Land. They give out permits for their reclaimed land for hunting. At one time they had over 30,000 acres, but I believe they sold some of it off. Might be around 20,000 now. Hunting and camping with a permit, and if you check into one of their office's, they'll hand you a free map. gypsyman
