With having to wait 5 months plus, to get eggs from Bobwhite and Tennessee Red quail, and them eating a bag of 26% feed every month, I decided that i was going to switch to coturnix quail, instead.
I bought 37 quail from a breeder friend up north (michigan), They mature and start laying eggs in 6-8 weeks, not 5-6 months.
They have a new pen, found some windows on my garbage day huntings (scrounger yes!:-) and used some left over tin from Ron's pole barn, with some chicken wire also found in my hunting.
I got my first egg today. Eggactly (pun intended) 5 weeks after I got them. I'm quite happy about switching. Economically, spending a bag of feed ($15) a month, on quail for the next 5 months, before I get one egg. I have only bought one bag and they are now laying. Much better investment.
They started making the coolest calls and woots the past week. It's so awesome!

My building made of all recycled/thrown out stuff. Skylight. (We call this building guest house) Cause I have like 6 chicken condos, villas, etc.
