Just read where some of the cast and crew protested Mel Gibson, making a cameo appearence in a movie, Hangover II. But Mike Tyson is in the movie. I'm trying to figure out what kind of standard some of these Hollywood brains have. I think that either one is a bad example, I guess it's ok to rape a woman, your just not suppose to beat them up, or divorce 'em??  gypsyman

mel is a man who makes a living acting parts.. just scripts he learns due to his chosen profession..
 id hate to be in a profession where success depends totally on the image he sells to the masses...

I do have some sympathy for Tyson. He did have some great talent, but not enough brain power to go along with it. No doubt like so many other boxer's, who let their managers handle the money, he doesn't have much to show for it. He worked his way up to one of the top positions for a boxer, and it all came down. Too big an ego, maybe some drugs or alcahol involved, who knows. And maybe a year ago or so, he had I believe his 4-5 year old daughter die. And, I wouldn't wish that on anyone.

I do have sympathy for Mike.

I Honestly think he has a diminished capacity. I  believe it all went to heck for Mike at an early age when his father abandoned him sister died and Cus Dimatto his trainer died,  Once Don King entered the picture with no Cus to protect him They took advantage of Mike and his diminished mental faculties. They used and abused him. Everyone Mike surrounded himself with seemed to just use and abuse him.

Where as Holyfield was an elegant Boxer , Mike was a Raw devastating power puncher (not graceful but unbelievably powerful). Mike was the youngest and the first to unify all the heavyweight titles. An unbelievable feat. He posted 50 wins 44 knockouts 15 of which were all first Round and only 6 losses (which I believe came late in his career when his personal and professional life was a total wreck).

I honestly don't believe Mike ever raped that woman. Any woman that goes to a hotel room a 3 in the morning Knows what they are going there for. (and please don't respond with the non means no argument, we weren't there we don't know what happened in the room. I am of the opinion Miss Rhode Island saw a payday and took it. She also had one previous false accusation of Rape.

Mikes life has been a complete shambles. Bad decisions , poor judgment , and terrible associates that just wanted to take advantage of him. I think if Mike had had more structure in his life and people that truly cared about him , and help with his diminished IQ from true educators and medical professionals, his life may have turned out differently. Too bad really cause as a young Brooklyn kid he really had a shot at being one of the greats.  

Mel on the other hand has no excuses and is just a racist.

scootrd....racist calling Mel a racist just don't count especially in the industry he's in.  Similar to the troubles of Walt Disney, a story you might want to look into. (or Mel is playing a role as a racist.. )


slim...not only is a Mel a character player, but a filmmaker. The Passion of Christ and Apocolypto are 2 very very great movies which he risked his own personal fortune making. I think these two films should be seen by all. What's Mel's problem?...but the Irish demon,,, Whiskey!!

I liked apocolypto. The Passion not so much. Two and a half hours of a guy getting beaten to death didn't make for a good movie to me.

I heard a rumor about a local band here I think it was enoughzenough. They started making fun of Jews and homosexuals on stage. Guess how far they went? Who runs the music industry? You guessed it, Jews and Homosexuals. They got dumped by their label and had to do a bunch of small venue shows to pay off what they owed for recording and tour support.

That being said I agree with what's been said here before. If he can lay low for a while it will all blow away.

Let's be honest with ourselves here.  Celebrities are just people, just like you and I but for some reason we put them all up on a pedestal and we expect more from them. (Don't get me wrong here, I'm not condoning their horrific behavior)  If all of us would stop paying attention to them and stop modeling our lives after them and the stupid (unrealistic) parts they play in dumb movies, the country and world would be a MUCH better place.  The simple truth is that Mike Tyson would be a jail bird and no one would care and Mel Gibson wouldn't have a ton of money to get himself out of trouble from beating on his wife....IF they weren't celebrities.

What the answer to this thread should be is "who cares?"

clue me in.. does mel say he hates jews because of what they did to jesus, or what..if so all i can say is what if they had not crucified him..after all it did provide the only way for people to ever be redeemed..
 now having said that ,it does anger me when i read again, what they did to the savior..he knew what was coming and clearly ,from the four gospels,dreaded it..but its clear he knew what had to happen ,for him to be able to take our sins on himself...this that man might have eternal light an life..if he chooses the right path..slim
ps.. as to boxers ..holifield was one of the most courageous fighters ive ever seen ,in my time..
 this is what i look for an admire in boxers and fighters.ive seen talented boxers, lose on purpose..just because the body shots or whatever,were just not something they could handle..many of us got no clue just how hard it is to take a punchers punch..holifield stood that test,an sometimes thats when he would land the stopper..tyson had huge power but in the end came up lacking that never quit trying to win ,quality ..holmes,qwawie,and a few  others had it..
 i wouldn t fault a man ,if he couldn t quite measure to that standard..its a special fighter that has the talent along with the courage,to never quit trying to win..jmo.

It's been 4 years (a pattern?) since his last rant about Jews, and how they are the cause of all the world wars etc, his recent rant was a recording phone call with his new woman, Oksana. Where he was using the N word, referring to her getting gang rapped by a 'pack' of them, she would 'deserve it'.

It's been 17 years since the Tyson conviction and SENTENCING, he served his time for his crime, when he was in the movie. Gibson hasn't even been charge with anything. I think the wounds of the insults of religions, nationalities (made Mexican insults to woman), and Racial insults are still fresh in everyone's minds,

He seems to be non-discrimatory about who he insults... Not picking on one more then the other...
