American Air Gunner
« on: October 24, 2010, 06:35:58 AM »
Does anyone watch that TV program? I recently saw an episode where they took a couple of big bore air guns to the range. There happened to be a blackpowder shoot going on. The air gunners took a few shots with the muzzleloaders and were impressed, both said "I have to get one of those". When the blackpowder shooters tried the air gun they just handed it back with a shrug and an expression like "is that all it does?" ::)  I just wondered if everyone is aware there is such a program on TV.

I often watch it. I have had an air rifle of one kind or another most of my life. I have taken many cotton tails with mine. They do not last long in MY garden.

Yes I watch it, it's a good show  I like their segments on Field Target.  That's looks like a fun sport and I'm always amazed that they can make those kill zone shots at those distances.  Oh yeah, and Crystal is cute ;)

I watched it a couple of times and thought it was kind of lame.  Just my opinion based on the episodes I saw.

they need to make some episodes that are about more
than kissing sponsors butt! Always seem to be a re-run
too. Lets see some hunting! Shooting plastic dinosaurs
is for kids and I hate field target. Boring! Pop-Ding-Pull the string,
Pop-Ding-Pull the string. not too exciting.

Yes, some serious small game hunts would make it more interesting. Squirrel hunting in the hardwoods, followed by field dressing and a wild game feed.
I would like to see that girl preparing a nice meal.  ;D

Yes, I agree that more small game hunting should be included, but I like it because it gets our segment of the shooting sports out to the general public.  I really enjoy the show and hope it stays on the air long enough to evolve into something hunters and target shooters would look forward to.

The show has potential but they really need to expand their
format. Letters from viewers might help.

It's on the "Sportsman's" channel, cable or satellite. I agree that it is pretty lame but hopefully will evolve into something. This is the first season, seven episodes so far and they seem to be just groping their way through it. It is interesting to me to see many types of airguns and of course Crystal Ackley can get a rise out of any man, so to speak. They really don't have an established format and they really need one. My favorite "shootin show"  is Field & Stream "Gun Nuts" on the "outdoor Channel". They have an excellent format which keeps one's interest. They'll do a "New Gun Test" which is really a test and not just an infomercial. Then a segment called "Shoot better in 60 seconds", simple tips on how to handle a rifle. Then "Break um on Station" which is tips on trap shooting. Them a review of one of the "50 best guns of all time". Then "the Rut Report" on deer hunting. Maybe a test of equipment like shooting glasses, scopes or binocks. It's the varied format that keeps it interesting.
I'd like to see American Airgunner get into some antique airguns, do a serious test of different pellet designs, side by side comparison of pneumatics, CO2's and springers, interview a top Olympic shooter, etc. They really need an established format, Crystal can't carry the whole show by herself. ;D
