Crossman/Benjamins

Years ago I bought one for my son and I have wanted one for myself.
What is the quality of the 397 and 392 now?  I have heard they have really gone downhill sice Crossman has taken over the company.

  There may be a few pieces of plastic in there somewhere, but they are still primarily brass and wood.  For all I know they may be entirely plastic free (not counting the rubber rings) but that would be a tall claim to make these days and I don't have one to prove it with.
 
  I got the pump pistol about two years ago and it's still just like years ago with new polyurethane on the walnut grips.  No plastic that I've found thus far.  I'm happy with it.

  My two cents is that the Sheradin is still the best buy in a pump up.

They are still quality air guns.
Don't seem quite as powerful as my
30+ year old one though.

I bought a new Benjamin a year or so ago to replace the old one that was just worn out. The trigger appears to be made of polymer-plastic and I had some trouble with that. To my surprise the new one has a much better trigger than the old one did. Accuracy and power seems to be as good as the old one was before it's demise. The new one is wearing a red dot sight as I just can't see those iron sights on a rifle anymore. I tried a scope but it made it difficult to load the pellet.
