Well guy's patients, and trial paid off today. I had gone out this morning, and had one shot on a whitetail buck, that again went under. I did not focus on the little spot as I should have. Well the rest of my morning was pretty exciting with Doe's all over the place, along with 6 bucks that I had seen. I use Primo's Silver for cover scent, and I'll be darn if 2 snuck in right behind me at 5 yard. What a jump start she gave me when I turned my head... DANG what a RUSH.
Well, I figured about 11 am to head to the house and have some coffee with my uncle. My son had been planning on coming up, but had not shown yet. Then I had found out that his back was just giving him fits till about 5am. I figured he was going to stay home, and I knew it ment a lot to him to come join me for the hunt.
Well I got a text message just before I was going to head out again that he was on his way. He arrived, and we headed out to where I spooked up a Buck yesterday morning launching an arrow across his back with a clean miss. Well we soon found flagging whitetail headed off into the woods. I figured to use the grunt tube to see what we could call in since we were in very thick woods. I blew a couple of grunts, and the next thing I know thru the trees here was a Buck in perfect sight picture thru the trees. I figure its now or never, drew and let her rip.
That Buck dropped like a sack of rocks with an arrow to the front shoulder spine area, but was not wanting to stay put. I was able to get another arrow on the shelf and just as the Buck raised up to take off, I let another arrow go and this time thru his lungs. He went down, and busted my CX Heritage arrow in two.
Man were we stoked at my first whitetail buck kill. What an awesome day, and my son was there to see it all.
