All Hawk Kill help age some arrows
« on: October 28, 2010, 12:00:50 PM »
A guy on another forum found these at a yard sale.....

A gem of an artifact from a yard sale along with a quiver full of arrows from the 50s for $5.00. There is red dye on the arrow and the feathers are nearly falling apart. Someday I am gonna let someone see this to tell me exactly what kind of arrow this is. All I can come up with is late 1800s Plains. Anyone else have any ideas?

Wow!  That is absolutely Native American style based on the cut of the feathers.  I have seen some really good copies over the years so it would really be hard to date or say it was an original looking a the pictures.  Is that a bone nock?  Also can you tell if it is real sinew or not?  Heck I could spend hours asking questions that we may never come up with the answers to.  Would be nice to get some carbon dating to know for sure.
