Rats had to go somewhere , get out and scout.  Not all rats   expired  ( kits)  , keep us posted on what you find.

I got the canoe out today , went through the whole pond. i found 25 huts and 1/4 of ice in the still areas. I wondering if I should wait for the ice to be walk able?

i think the rats are going to have hard year where i am. I just trapped  half  the pond with a little over 40 house. counted little over 70 to 80 houses last year.

If you wait for ice--you can forget about catching any rats--they will be long gone. The temps for the next week will be just fine for open water trapping.
IF YOU WANT TO GET ANY RATS--YOU BEST BE SETTING TOMORROW MORNING.
 Good Luck!
