New Handi Keyholing?
« on: October 30, 2010, 02:39:19 PM »
I have a new 444 which I took to the range yesterday.  I got it shooting good groups, but every 3rd or 4th shot keyholes.  Is this anything to be concerned with?

Are you sure there wasn't something between you and the target that might interfere with the bullet's path? I once had a similar problem, not all rounds keyholed, found a bare limb from a tree on the edge of the range that was nicked, bullets were being upset if they hit it, the limb wasn't obvious from 100yds away. Since you stated you got some good groups, it could be a bad crown I suppose that's marginal, but I would think it would be consistent. It may need to go in for repair if it does that with factory ammo, mine shot all three factory loads from Rem and Hornady under 2" BEFORE it got in the box at H&R before they shipped it to me!! Follow their instructions to get it fixed,  ask them to send a return shipping label.
