Good job, Tim !
Opening day that doe's twin sister walked under our apple tree at 6 PM. That morning I had told my brother that since he has never managed to put a tag on a deer, he got first shot. We are on an island, with "any deer" legal, and only revolvers and shotguns legal also. Being from Spokane area, I have never hunted deer with a slug gun. Holy cow ! The huge holes leave a blood trail that you just can't miss. It ran maybe 100 yards, which in our "jungle" would be a worry even if it weren't getting dark, but we just walked up to it, no problem.
So I have devoted as much time as I could trying to get my own. (Somebody just gave us a freezer...it would be a shame not to fill it, right ?) The trail cam has caught a nice fork horn buck several times, eating our apples after dark. Maybe in the late season the rut will get him moving in daylight.
BTW, my brother got drawn for a second deer tag, so he may return. This time he doesn't get first shot though !
My brother is on the right in the photo, that's me on the left.
