Do we collect or hoard???
« on: October 29, 2010, 08:56:02 AM »
Be honest what do we really do?  Collect or Hoard???

I think we tend to collect guns.  On the other hand we hoard ammo right?

If your new or old at gun collecting i would suggest getting your C&RFFL03 license it cuts out the middleman and saves you lots of $$$ on surplups, ammo and accessories.  Its only $30 for 3 years and you make more than that on youir very first purchase. So why pay more than you have too?

Well I try to make my own ammo so kind of hoarding I guess.
I mean I need my fixin's.

As for gun, not so much.
I tend to just enjoy shooting old milsurps.
So one of each, no all guns mind you, is enough for me.
I've only got about 6 or 7 different milsurps. ::)

I buy surplus ammo when it is a good price, usually from individuals here on GBO.  I just bought some 7.62x39 that I already had plenty of, but my son and I and our friends will shoot it up eventually.  Is that hoarding?  I don't think so even though I don't "need" that many rounds in the near future.

As far as rifles, I wasn't bitten by the Mil Surp bug until a few years ago when I bought a few of my deceased buddy's collection simply to help out his widow who is also a good friend.  In reading just to see what I had, I got interested.  I only had the SKS, Yugo Mauser and a Krag sporter up until the 3 Garands I bought last year.  Ok, maybe I'm hoarding Garands?  What can I say, they were each a good deal and couldn't pass them up.

Interesting question. I have to say it's a little of both. We collect our milsurps and try to have ammo on hand to go shooting. So we stockpile enough to last awhile. The last couple years have been a very good indicator of just that. Ammo, and reloading components in short supply. And folks buying whatever they could get so's they don't run out. I went to a local show sometime back and one dealer had cases of mil surp ammo. First words he said were "debit or credit" stuff was literally being carried out the door like it was the last there was. Frank

i would've answered collect...but that was before a "friend" coerced me into a c&rffl...now i think it's hoarding, but in a good way!  ;D
