lever action 35 cal. for bear?

How does this caliber stand up for black bear? My son will be using it this Sept. in Maine.

Which 35 caliber round are you asking about?  Without know, I will say most 35 cals are adequate for bear.

When you say lever action 35 cal, I will assume you mean the 35rem.

This is an excellant black bear caliber.

Yankee,

The 35 Rem. is a fine cal. for blackbear. One of the fellows I had at my bait site took a nice 6' blackie with one well placed shot through the vitals at 50 yards. I believe he was shooting factory 200 grainers at about 1975 fps. The bear jumped in the air and stumbled forward; he died at about 10 yards! I was impressed with the results! His rifle put the bear down as fast as any other I've seen. 8)

I would think that the 358 Winchester in a BLR or Savage 99 would also be good medicine for black bear. POW
