Still dry here.
« on: November 05, 2010, 12:10:37 PM »
My pond is stil 5 ft  low, never has been this low in Nov. Several farmers have sold their cattle because their ponds are dry and they can't afford to buy water for them. Most hay was pretty poor quality, farmers baled their corn stalks. Close to 1/2 of the ponds here are dry now. We've had a burning ban for about 2 months now, not even a campfire. We got 1.3 inches the last of the month bringing our total to 1.5 inches in almost 10 weeks.
The paper said over 13,000 acres have burned on Ft Knox from fires started by live fire. The base cmdr says, we can't stop traing just because it's dry. luckily the winds are favorable and we are not affected by the smoke. A fire a while back on Knox had folks in Lou complaining about the smoke. In 87 an arty shell started a huge fire that affected us here too, couldn't breathe outside at all for a week or more til the wind shifted.  Anyway, we're still praying for rain. POWDERMAN.  :o :o
