Look at the THIN pieces falling in front.

I think it was a cheap thin-wall lawn-bomb of cast iron.

He said the barrel was PVC. He also said he had some "old powder" to get rid of. BP doesn't get old as far as I know... smokeless maybe?

"Old powder" probably means he had it around for a long time.  There's a lot of smoke for smokeless.

This has been posted here before.  Here is the explanation given by the video poster:

Right, I had a bunch of old powder and so used some PVC pipe and scrap lumber to make the cannon and get rid of the powder. Wouldn't dare do that with a real one, way to expensive among other things. Also, we set the camera's up and started them filming before we even lit the fuse, then got far away.

Yeah, seemed kind of artificial to me.  One doesn't casually blow up real, or even good repro, artillery.

I'm sorry Allen, you're one of the good guys, you don't deserve this; Double D. does, but you don't.  I'd do just about Anything to get out of drilling 826 holes in 1/4" steel plates. This is just one of those things.

Kind of off topic for a cannon and mortar forum but plans for the Popular Mechanics Adirondack chairs from the July 2006 issue are online.  Click the link or the image for them.

Those chairs are neat looking but definitely not for old people. Women generally don't care for them either. After you have hauled your carcass out of one a few times the novelty of the design wears off quickly.
