3rd Deer of the Season
« on: October 30, 2010, 02:30:45 PM »

This dandy doe was taken in Maryland on OCT 29 at about 9AM.  Weight after field dressing: 79 lbs.  The deer responded to a "doe call".  The device is made by Hunter's Specialties with model name The True Talker. I bought it over other makes and models because of the high praise from the Salesman at Lancaster Archery. He said his worked like a champ every time and wouldn't freeze up during late season.

When I got this device home, it wouldn't work.  Close inspection revealed that the inner rubber band was absent.  I phoned Lancaster Archery; he said bring it back for replacement.  But that would cost me 3 gallons of gas and 1.5 hours of travel (round trip).  So I contacted Hunter Specialties directly.  The man in Customer Service was very polite and friendly.  He apologized and committed to send me replacement assembly "right away".  Wow!  Next day the reed and rubber band arrived FEDEX.  That's what I call outstanding customer Service.

PRIMOS, Quaker Boy, and many other companies make these devices.  Whether one is better than another is unknown to me.

Good shooting! I hope to hunt with a cross bow some day.

Good shooting, and doe BTW.  I may think of getting one for some options during our general hunting season next year as I just picked up a copy of Crossbows magazine tonight.
