 New target for deer season!
Mountain Lion spotted 4 times north of Bedford on Hwy 37.

WLKY Reported-BEDFORD, Ind. -- A southern Indiana sheriff is warning the public about the presence of mountain lions in the area after four reported sightings in the past week.

One of the sightings was by a Lawrence County police officer, who spotted a mountain lion eating a deer carcass along Indiana 37 north of Bedford over the weekend.

Lawrence County Sheriff Sam Craig told The Times-Mail that while he doesn't want to alarm people, he wants residents to take proper precautions. Three other sightings were reported to the department last week.

State officials have confirmed instances of mountain lions in nearby Greene and Clay counties in the past year. The animals had last been confirmed in the 1860s.

Conservation officers said people shouldn't make rapid or aggressive movements toward the big cats.

Lions, tigers, bears and hogs, oh my.....

What's next to be released into the wild? Kangaroos??

I'll be on the lookout for the mtn lions, right through my riflescope.

Thanks, Dinny

"fear of your life"

I am, and not even got to the woods yet. ;)

Where is this list of protected animals. I have heard of some critters being protected like the Timber Rattlers and Wolf's. Just never seen a list published.

Kinda reminds me of an issue sometime back concerning a local needed bridge replacement that was held up because of the possible disturbance of some sort of special minnow.  We had used these things for years for bait.  Some group or other made an issue of it and delayed the bridge repair until certain measures could be taken to protect this bait.  Turned out the measures taken caused the demise of our bait supply.  Nowadays we have to go elsewhere to get the same bait and as long as the dogooders don't find out where we go the bait will be safe and survive.

Send this kitty a little farther south and these asinine reports will soon quietly go away.

What sort of bleedin heart democrat, liberal, 2 faced trash reports this crap anyway?

"Fear of your life or the life of another" entitles a person to kill things in In. If you want to brag about killing an endangered species it might get you arrested. The good news is I think, but not sure, it is only a class A misdemeanor and you wont loose your firearm privileges for the rest of your life.

Hank if this was actually true, why weren't the dogooders who were responsible for killing off the pool of minnows here arrested?  It was proven that the actions they oversaw caused a change in pool levels that caused them to die off.  The idiots didn't know where to look or they would have realized there was an ample supply to begin with.

This cat is likely an animal that was held captive and either escaped or was released when reality set in on it's captor.  Either way it doesn't belong here and needs by way of common sense to either be caught and removed or quietly destroyed before it's too late.

I were not bragging about killing anything. Relax I am just having fun. I believe if you have read any of my post you will see I am NOT one to shoot anything illegal or with anything illegal. I have no problem turning in poachers or violators. I will carry some kitty food with me hunting, That way I can be nice to it if it shows.

I believe it, it might sound crazy but, years ago when I hunted in Jefferson Cty, near China [just east of proving grounds] the owners of that property swear they had been seeing a Black Bear. I thought they were a little old[in 80's] and just thought they saw something, but after talking to their Grandson, he even saw it! This was back in the late 90's. I did mention this to a State Bio.  2-3 years ago and he just smiled, said he heard it also, but wouldn't confirm or deny it. Just an FYI

One had been spotted a month or so ago on the north west side of Crane by a few different people.

They sent out a memo with a picture that the DNR had taken with a trail cam in Green County saying to be careful when out and about on base.

It did state they did not know whether it had been someones pet or was purely wild.
