My German K98
« on: January 08, 2004, 10:28:23 AM »
My german K98 came today from Century arms I ordered the $119 one its a karbiner(short barrel).  The bore is excellent, the wood is excellent no cracks, the swatsticka's are hammered over(peined).  Not much bluing left but the gun has potential after a good cleaning and maybe rebluing it could still be a looker and its a definitely a shooter just looking at it.  Its marked "byf" / "44" and the bolt doesn't match the reciever as long as the headspace checks out ok thats all I worry about.   I didn't want to go the $200 for one but I'm happy with this one.  Funny its a twin to my Yugo Preduzecci 44 exactly yes they were reworked Geramn K98's.  BigBill

Update with my bad eyes I didn't notice they left me one swatsticker on the gun, just one litte small one you can hardley see it, well I can hardley see it.  I can see distance but nothing really close unless I wear glasses or use a magnifiying glass.
