What is wrong with handi 243. Fixed the problem!

I had a buddy bring over a new handi, polished trigger and changed the trigger spring, standard stuff , have done lots of them. When the trigger breaks, hammer drops, getting light hit on primer, barely dents it, feels like something is hitting the trigger, any of you have similar results.

YUP!! Been there done that!!!  :-[ ::)

I'm thinking you need to place an order to Brownells for a new hammer and trigger!!

Once you get them, DON'T GO CRAZY grinding on the contact points!! VERY lite stoning, just smooth with out removing very much material is whats needed. Follow Perklo's or Raynor's guidelines for trigger jobs in the FAQ's and you will be fine. But before you begin, be sure to make a slave pin! It will save your sanity on reassembly!!

Many of our first trigger jobs on a handy have turned out this way!!!

I blew it twice doing triggers on my 270. The first was crazy light and I didnt like it, the second was better but I would get FTF every few rounds from not pulling threw the shot. The third I just polished up a bit. After about 50 rounds it broke in nice and shot like butter.

no grinding or filing was done on these parts, just a buffing wheel  and stone, just barely removed finish. I believe the bar that holds the disconnect is not working correct.

Depending on the pressure and the grit used a "polishing" wheel can remove allot of material! Trust me when I tell you sometimes it doesn't take much!!

Order the new parts, slowly and carefully stone the parts, only to remove imperfections, then install. Your gun will work again.

might want to take a look at the transfer bar spring. If it gets tweaked out of shapewhen moving parts around it can cause grief. dont ask how I know this......

It was the transfer bar spring, just weak from the factory. Lucky, I had 2 spares, dropped it in, fired 4 times, good to go! Thanks for the reply guys.
