.45 LC, is it OK on an SB1 frame?
« on: November 13, 2010, 11:49:08 AM »
Hi guys, I just bought a .45LC/.410 barrel. Is it safe to shoot factory .45 LC's out of the barrel on an SB1 (shotgun) frame?. Im sure it is OK if I shoot .410's but what about the .45's?...Thanks....<><....:)

The Survivor 410/45 comes on an SB1 frame from the factory.  ;)

You will be fine, even with ruger level hand loads the pressures are much less then the standard 44mag.

My 45 colt carbine sits on Topper wood and frame. I shoot Ruger level loads exclusively in this rifle. In fact it shoots every level loads, light, medium and heavy to the red dot. I shot it at 25y, 50y, and 100y today for point of aim. dead on at 25, 2" high at 50 and 1" low at 100y with ruger loads, 2" minus groups. Opening day choice. At least 300 rounds down the tube this year so far.

Thanks for the quick responses guys. I was lucky enough to get a barrel from new member candrffl. It's reported to be in good shape, it has the choke tube, it has not however been drilled and tapped for a scope but I can take care of that if needed....<><....:)

P.S. Thanks and welcome aboard candrffl....when your here your among friends....<><....:)

Don't think you should take it to 454 or 460 though
