Colorado Gov Race
« on: November 09, 2010, 02:29:03 AM »
I was really hoping that Tancredo, apparently a true conservative, would come through loud and clear on the Constitution Party ticket.  Late polls indicated a statistical draw between his race and the Dem.  Anyone have good insight into what happened there?

Unfortunately, Tancredo, with about 36% ended up 14-15% behind the Democratic nominee Hickenlooper. The Republican candidate Maes only got about 11% of the vote so Tancredo would not have won regardless.
What really chaps my ass is that; according to the Denver Post, approximately just 50% of eligible voters came out.
Tancredo has antagonized and polarized many voters on all 3 sides of the aisle.
I think this points to the Californication of Colorado metropolitan centers, the mindset of old line Republicans, and the generally apathetic view of voters toward political B!@#S$%^ and voting in general.
Add to this the common mantra that a 3rd party candidate will never win and we didn't make much progress here.

I left colo because of all the Californians moving in to get away from California and bringing the same attitudes with them that caused the problems there.

This state of Colorado is really going downhill fast. Yet the liberal bastion that surrounds the Denver area keep electing these liberal nuts regardless of the affect on the economy or health of the state. The state is operating in the red as we speak. The city of Denver was a sanctuary city while Hickenlooper was the mayor!  So we can now see Colorado as a sanctuary state! Just stand back and watch the finance of the state go further into the red zone. The cost of providing illegals with education for their children on top of healthcare for these illegals is staggering!!

Too bad that Tancredo was not elected, he was on the right track to start to clean up this mess.

Sorry to hear that CO is going down that path.
I'm hoping that the "New" House won't agree to finance any bailouts of states that practice poor economics.
This might cause some retraction from the liberal free-spending that we are witnessing.

I like Tancredo because you know where he stands.  From what I've seen of him he seems to be consistent in ideology.
We need a few more like that.  Leading up to the 2nd it seemed that the race was much closer than it all turned out.
