A bobcat climbed down from a tree right by me one morning at daylight, I climbed up before day bow hunting. Small , it left on the other side of some water and came back on my side. It then swam a river run rather than go up the bank i was sitting over. When it reached the button willows on the other side it turned and swam down the run  through the willows. 30 minutes or so later I heard a Great Blue Herron squawk and flap its wings. I believe the cat caught it.

One evening I dropped my light right after I climbed up. At almost too dark to see I heard a noise under me. Looked down and just made out a skunk comeing out of a hollow tee next to me. Waited a while but it was one of the hardest climb downs I have made.

About 10 years ago, my tree stand was a kayak.  I was drifting around a beaver pond up in Maine, looking to shoot an unsuspecting whitetail.  I heard a strange noise, looked down, and there was a mink sitting in the bow of the kayak, eating a fish.  I sat still and watched him for about 2 or 3 minutes.  When he finished, he jumped back in the water, and was gone.  It was neat to watch, and I wish I had brought a small camera with me.

Bigeasy, if I learn to use my cellphone camera that will probably be the reason. Shoot wildlife and such. I was watching a beaver dam and saw a mink search it all over then the mink started crossing the canal under water below the dam. It started to roll around in the water and I could tell it had a big snake. I thought the snake was a goner. It came out with a snake about 3 times it's length and left running down the bank with the snake. It was February and snow was on the ground and there was some ice on the water. eddiegjr

Once saw a bear with two cubs come by my stand.  Momma took them in a new direction when she cut my trail.

From the same stand I once saw a bobcat coming out to play right before dark.  It jumped up on a rock, looked around, and romped down the mountainside like a kid on the last of school.

The strangest was a few years ago seeing a pair of box turtles mate (I assume that's what they were doing)!

O.T. but duck hunting on the Mississippi in Northern MN my first year up from Iowa, I was standing chest deep in a log jam in chest waders and for the first time in my life saw a group of otter playing and swimming in the middle of the river, (here you can throw a stone over the width of it) and one otter disappeared from the group. I watched and didn't see it, but felt something touch my foot, I just moved my eyes down and it popped up right under my crossed arms holding my shotgun out of the water and YAWNED. HOLY cow do they have some teeth. And it was so close, I just looked with what I am sure were big eyes and it just dove back down and went back out to the group and continued up stream. Was one of the neatest hunting experiences I have had.

Year before last I had been sitting in a tree all morning on my aunt's property waiting for a deer or hog to visit.  A squirrel had made his rounds following the same path over and over all morning long.  His circuit came along a large limb about ten feet from me in the next tree, but since I had been there since before daylight pretty much motionless he was oblivous to my presence.  It was getting late and I was about to call it quits, so when he came through the next time I whistled like a hawk.  He immediately flattened out on the limb and did his best to become "part of the tree".  After about half a minute he continued on.  I let him go a few feet and did it again.  I ended up making him duck several times, getting quite a chuckle each time.

Sitting in a box stand outside Halifax, NC I had small yellow wasps falling on me just after sunrise.
I've had a hawk a few feet away.  The required tree rats, I know what a 30-06 and a 20 ga slug will do to one.
Heard something with 4 feet walking from the creek towards the field, turned and saw 2 wood ducks walk down the woods road, stopped and played/washed in a puddle, then walked back to the creek.
Not a deer stand but I ran a small bobcat out of my car at my Dad's house one Christmas.  Thought, "I could catch that, but I couldn't let go."
