That is one of the calls I've been looking at but I didn't like the artificial slate that it contains. Does it come with any other calling surfaces? I have one friction call with the artificial slate and I just could never get use to it. If it came with another calling surface I would probably buy one.

They make one with a crystal surface. A little higher pitched though. I use the Knight&Hale OL'Yeller alot. It produces soft to loud pitches. plus it is cheaper and I think it sounds better. Also you can by a leg strap at Wally world for like 10 bucks i think. Its made by H.S. Strut.

Muzzy makes a slate call"The SlateMate". It straps to your leg so you can work the call with one hand and hold your gun with the other. Pretty neat for about twenty dollars.

anyone using this call?  i was looking at it today and Wal-mart and it looks pretty nice.  just wondered how it sounds.  i like the fact that you can strap it to your leg or gun and keep calling up to the last second...

I tried the one out with the crystal in it and it sounds pretty good. My only complaint is that it is bulkey. Its much taller than a normal on.

I don't know if it would really help to strap on to your leg or not. I've never had a problem with one not just sitting up there.

I bought one, and at first it worked fine. However, after using it for a few hunts, the sweet spots wore down, and when I sanded it with the paper that came with the call, it was ruined. If you do get one, do not use sandpaper! I would try some type of scrub pad.
