RamRod for my sidekick
« on: November 21, 2010, 06:55:26 AM »
I've owned my sidekick for about 4yrs now and really like it.
But when i was at the range last week the ramrod rolled of the table and bent.
Ofcourse when I went to staighten it, it snapped in half.
Does anyone know where to get a new one?
I've seen the older posts about Hubbards and I'm going to be calling him but was wandering if there is any place else.
The season starts in 1.5 weeks so I need one fast.

You might be surprised at the turn-a-round time if he gets some information from you in a timely manner. Let him know you have a Sidekick and he will supply the length needed.

What state are you in? Sounds like it may possibly be Michigan? What size, 24" or 26"? Our season starts on Dec 3rd for my area of the state. If Remington doesn't have the standard rod, and your not sure about buying a Hubbard rod, I know a place that had about 4 of the 26" factory rods in stock back in September.

Jay's Sporting Goods in Clare, Michigan had them, but I can't remember the price. IIRC they were around 15-20 dollars. I am sure they would pack and ship you one if you were to call them. Clare store is where I seen them, not sure if the Gayolord store has any if that is closer, but call first.

The Hubbard rod is much nicer, if I didn't have custom jags for my H&R/NEF's I would buy the Hubbard for sure. I only use my factory rods with custom jags for reloading in the field, I use a range rod for all other loading and cleaning. Also make sure you start bullets with it collapsed then extend only after pushing the bullet as far as it will go collapsed first. I have never had a problem with any of mine bending.

SUPER! So glad to hear, and yes, Hubbard does do business the "old fashioned way".

Refreshing, isn't it.

Good luck and have a safe hunt.
