45-70 Anchors Another Whitetail
« on: November 17, 2010, 12:52:59 PM »
This is the 8th deer harvested by my 45-70 Handi . 4:45 PM on 11-16-10 . Southern Nebraska . My handload of a 405 gr. Rem SP @ 1350 FPS.  The big girl stepped out in front of my home made ground blind and was shot @ 20 yards as she quartered away from me. The slug entered her right side mid ribs and exited just in back of the offside shoulder. Golf ball sized inside  cavity holes.   She wheeled and ran 30 yards with a visible, gaping entrance wound, spraying blood out both sides and piled up. She field dressed 140 lbs.

Nice doe buddy. ;D
I'm hoping to make a deer real sick this saturday with my new 357 handi.
Nothing like fresh backstrap steaks.

Got my first deer(doe) of the season yesterday evening with the 45-70.  I love hunting with that little gun.

Mines on vacation this season.  I think she's on a beach somwhere in the Bahamas.  The problem is, I think she's got my .38-55 laying there in the sand with her.  I haven't seen a brown hair of the beast since the season opened.....except for right in front of my truck. :'(  The moral of the story is "Take your guns to town, Son."

make a deer sick, man that's just sick! seriously though, you should be tender and sweet to your deer, like me.  I hear one out in the woods making weird noises, I assume it's a buck with sleep apnea.  His breathing is disturbed, he can't sleep.... I help him go to sleep.  I used varget and a.458 bullet instead of nyquil or whatever though.  mine trotted off real slow minus one functional heart, one jellied lung, and a  totally jellied mess of shoulder and went into a deep sleep.  his muscles relaxed really good too, in my stew pot.  he's still asleep.  that's compassion- I hope you acquire it spanky.
