Last year I missed a ten point at 150 yards with my Sidekick. I was using Powerbelts and two 50 grain, Triple Se7en pellets. I zeroed the rifle an inch high at 50 yards and held over 8". Over the summer I upgraded to a carrierless breech plug, a Hubbard's ramrod and lower scope rings. I pitched the Powerbelts in favor of the Hornady SST ML/High Speed-Low Drag 250gr. sabots. Again, I zeroed the rifle an inch high at 50 yards.
On November 7th, the second day of Tennessee's muzzleloader season, The same ten pointer stepped out on the opposite side from last year. He put on several more inches and alot of weight over the summer. This time he wasn't so lucky. I aimed 8" high to compensate for the bullet drop and squeezed the trigger. This time, the Hornady found it's purchase. There was obviously plenty of energy at that range as the bullet went clean through both lungs. He ran 50 yards and it was over. The NEF Sidekick did it's job perfectly. I'm proud of the shot, my little rifle, the new bullets and the deer. He measured 125" and might have been 110" last year. Good things come to those who wait....and practice.
