If a major firearms company came out with a new muzzle loader that;

Used a 2 1/2" long brass case to hold the primer and make a positive stop for the saboted bullet

Used smokeless powder

loaded the 45 saboted bullet from the muzzle

Is it a muzzle loader?

Ought to make your post a "poll" CF, then you wouldn't have to put up with comments like mine - maybe keep the heat down.

As far as I am concerned, a modern in-line isn't a muzzle loader - neither would this be.

IMO-YMMV-AIDCITD :wink:

I sure wish ther was a "poll" on this site, wher a feller could vote for his favorite "type" of muzzleloader, whether it be,..... "traditional" or "modern inline".
Some fellas thet own both "types", would have to be restricted to vote'n for "ONLY ONE",..... and thet be'n ther "favorite"!

Anybuddy here know how to do such a "survey" or "poll",......

Real simple rollingb. Start a new topic, give it a subject, add some text, then go to the bottom and create a poll. You'll have to give it a question and add at least 2 options for the poll (ie, Traditional, In-line), add those options and then submit the new thread.

Creating a poll is easy, when you post a new topic (or edit the first post of a topic, if you have permission) you should see a Add Poll form below the main posting box (if you cannot see this then you probably do not have rights to create polls). You should enter a title for the poll and then at least two options (to set an option type in the poll question and click the Add option button. You can also set a time limit for the poll, 0 is an infinite poll. There will be a limit to the number of options you can list, this is set by the board administrator

I'm sure having trouble posting but not with the English language. Let me spell it. MUZZLELOADER. It is or it ain't. The firing method has nothing to do with the method used to LOAD it or what kind of powder gets LOADED FROM THE MUZZLE.

Consider it however you please. Words mean things. Me saying I don't consider an apple a piece of fruit does not mean it's not fruit.

Oh, well. Don't let facts get in the way of your opinion. Vote democrat. Make the words mean whatever you want and 2+2 can be 5 if you really, really want it to.

Old Cane,.... While an inline can technicaly be described as a "muzzleloader",.... IMHO,.. I think a better description is a "modified centerfire" thet LOADS from the muzzle.

I'd like to hear a better description, if someone has one.

By your criteria yes it is a muzzle loader. So is a cannon, as is a rocket propelled grenade, mortar ect, as is a host of numerous other modern hightech defense weapons.

I use my authentic tribal spear during our Primitive weapons Season as we dont have a blackpowder season.

Ok, you guys win. Words mean nothing, opinions rule. I'm glad manufacturers that could get sued for false advertising don't marke these guns as in-line muzzleloaders......or do they?

Here in TN I'll give you, it's not an intillectual hotbed. But I've lived a lot of places (and no I wasn't asked to move from every place) and it's no different. Poor grammer, stupidity and this idiotic notion that things aren't what they seem if you believe it hard enough knows no geographic boundaries. I don't even want to get into the "how does it make you feel" crowd.

We have a muzzleloader season here. It is not BP season, it is not patched round ball season. It is MUZZLELOADER. A gun that is loaded from the MUZZLE. What do you guys not understand?

My stated opinion does not mean I think you guys are stupid. I see it may have come out that way. I don't mean readers of this site containing some of the nicest folks around. I'm just saying it doesn't take much going on upstairs to understand the concept that it loads from the muzzle or it does not, hence the term M-U-Z-Z-L-E-L-O-A-D-E-R. Opinions can never change that fact.

Hmmm. Thats got me thinkin.Here in MN its a .40 cal minimun muzzle loader season but it dont say nothin about maximum. Just gotsta load from the muzzle. I wonder if I should use a traditional iron canon ball or do they make power belts for a 4" mortar? How many pyrodex pelts for a magnum load. :grin:

I'm just going by memory :lol: But I remember reading a long time ago that a in-line breech plugged rifle was available as much as 150years ago. But, it was expensive to produce, so they were pretty much non-existant. If this "is so", I haven't figured out what the "beef" is with the in-lines. I can understand nostalgia. If CF's theoretical rifle existed, I doubt it would fly with the BATF, as far as a muzzle loader is concerned. I don't care one way or the other. I do what the law lets me do and call it good.
In my state, hunting with a firearms require blaze orange. When the "traditionalist" start wearing blaze buckskin's, I might put in a request for a separate season :lol:
P.S. one has to remember the round ball was the norm for a long time before the conical! Also, how many traditional shooters use match locks??? just curious :wink: None of which is worth critisizing each other over :roll:
