Pre '64 Winchester 88 .308 Value?

I was wondering what the value of a pre '64 Winchester 88 .308 was? I have one that is in +/- 95% condition that I am considering selling, but not sure what the actual value is. It is missing the front sight hood and has an added recoil pad that seems to have been professionally done. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

If the buttstock was shortened during the recoil pad install, to maintain the LOP, the gun has been devalued from collector status to shooter status  ($500, +/-).

The best way to determine it's value, today - after measuring the LOP - would be to surf sold/closed gun auction websites like gunbroker or auctionarms to see how much someone has been willing to pay for one in like condition recently.
